Somatic Experiencing® Therapy

Virtual sessions available throughout California

Your body is your first home and your most loyal companion. It carried you through everything you have survived — heartbreak, loss, fear, stress, trauma, and the quiet ways you learned to endure what could not be changed. Long before you had words for what was happening to you, your body adapted, protected you, and kept you alive.

Somewhere along the way, many of us were taught to override our sensations, suppress our emotions, and distrust our instincts. But healing doesn’t come from forcing yourself to think or behave differently. It comes from learning to speak the language of the body again. In somatic therapy, we slow down and listen to the wisdom your nervous system has been holding all along, so what your body has carried alone no longer has to be carried alone. Healing is possible — and you don’t have to do it without support.

Somatic Experiencing is a gentle, body-based way of healing trauma, grief, and chronic stress by restoring your relationship with your nervous system. Rather than pushing for catharsis or retelling the past, we listen for the subtle language of the body — sensation, rhythm, impulse, breath — and allow healing to unfold at a pace your system can trust.

Somatic Experiencing therapy may be a good fit for you if you:

  • feel stuck in anxiety, numbness, or chronic overwhelm

  • live in a braced or collapsed body

  • struggle with boundaries, trust, or self-worth

  • feel disconnected from your body or emotions

  • carry unresolved grief or relational pain

  • have tried therapy before, have a lot of insight, and still find yourself struggling in the same patterns

  • want a gentle, body-based way to heal trauma

  • We approach difficult sensations, emotions, and memories in the smallest possible, manageable doses. This allows your nervous system to process what it’s ready for without becoming overwhelmed or retraumatized.

  • We gently move attention back and forth between states of ease and states of activation, teaching your body that it can touch discomfort and return to rest. This builds resilience, flexibility, and trust in your body’s capacity to regulate.

  • We track your lived experience across five channels — sensation, image, behavior, affect (emotion), and meaning — restoring communication between body, heart, and mind and supporting the completion of interrupted survival responses.

We slow down and bring mindful attention to subtle internal sensations — the primary language of the nervous system — allowing healing to unfold organically as your body releases what it no longer needs to carry.

  • We strengthen your system’s access to safety, support, and present-moment stability before and during deeper work, so your body never has to do more than it can handle.

How We Work in Somatic Experiencing Therapy

In our work together, we may draw on practices such as:

Meet Your Somatic Experiencing Therapist

Virtual Services Available Throughout California

Hi, I’m Kayleigh Eden, LCSW — a somatic therapist devoted to helping people come back into relationship with their bodies, their nervous systems, and their capacity for connection and aliveness.

I believe that healing happens through somatic resonance — a deep, bodily attunement in which one nervous system subtly meets and responds to another. Beyond intellectual empathy, it is the capacity to feel another’s inner experience through your own body, creating a shared sense of safety, understanding, and regulation. I believe this capacity for resonance is a human birthright, and that it extends not only between people, but between our bodies and the living earth.

In our work together, I offer a slow, grounded, and deeply attuned presence, listening for the subtle language of sensation, breath, and impulse as your nervous system finds its way back toward safety and connection. My role is not to fix you, but to help you learn to listen to your body’s wisdom again — so healing can unfold at a pace your system can trust.

Grief therapy is a sacred, body-centered space to honor loss and tend the love that still lives inside your grief. We listen to how sorrow moves through your nervous system and gently support it in softening and integrating, so your heart can expand rather than collapse around what you have lost.

Trauma therapy is a slow return to safety in your own body after experiences that taught your nervous system the world was not safe. Through gentle, somatic work, we help your body release survival patterns and remember how to rest, feel, and trust life again. and care.

Ancestral trauma therapy is a sacred, body-centered space to honor the grief, fear, and resilience carried through your lineage. We listen to how inherited survival patterns move through your nervous system and gently support them in softening and completing, so your body can open into safety, connection, and a future no longer bound to the past.
